About EcoPure:
- Is Thoroughly Tested and Proven: EcoPure® additives are tested using the ASTM D5511 test method and proven to biodegrade* plastic at a highly accelerated rate.
- Is Highly Versatile: EcoPure® can be used in a variety of plastic applications. From disposable single use products to custom engineered durable goods, we have an additive that will work specifically for your plastic products. We also offer custom engineering to meet the unique needs of your plastic product or application if needed.
- EcoPure® is an organic additive used to accelerate the rate at which plastics biodegrade.* Once exposed to enzymes that act as catalysts found in landfills and other naturally created chemicals, the microorganisms will penetrate the EcoPure® treated plastic while other ingredients expand the molecular structure, making room for the incoming microbes. The microbes attract other microbes by releasing chemicals in a process called quorum sensing. Quorum sensing is a process by which the microbes determine where to nest and grow once they have found a reliable food source. Collectively, they feast on the polymer chains, breaking down the chemical bonds that hold the plastic together.
Adding EcoPure® additives to the manufacturing process of traditional plastics accelerates the rate of biodegradation* after disposal in a landfill.
Q& A:
Why Did We Choose EcoPure?
EcoPure® accelerates the biodegradation of treated plastics in microbe-rich environments, including landfills, where more than 80% of plastics are disposed. According to D5511 and GPC test results, EcoPure® significantly accelerates the biodegradation* process, resulting in safely degraded plastics in a fraction of the time.
Will adding EcoPure shorten the lifespan of my slipper or sandal?
No, EcoPure® is formulated to only begin the biodegradation* process when it is surrounded by microbes present in a landfill environment. This means that EcoPure® treated plastics will only begin to biodegrade* at the end of the usable product life, if the plastic product is not recycled first.
