From the artist, Bethany Georges:

"My main inspiration behind this design was the playfulness and mischievous nature of the Mo'o. The shapes of ti leaves frame the design, symbolizing protection and good luck while also alluding to all of the cultural and practical uses for ti. As it is a beloved plant by many, it seemed fitting for the Mo'o to climb upon it, watching the sun rise, appreciating new beginnings. I was also happy with how the sun within the design fit underneath the heel of the foot when worn, as a way to reinforce the connection we have with the skies and the land, as our heel is the first to hit the ground wherever our journey may take us."
